vietnamese food

posted by friedApplePie in nashville; and boston; and food @ 3:44 pm

Yesterday, in the middle of a long work day, I hit Pho Pasteur for a bit of take-out bun . Of course, me being me, I ate about 14 bites before being full. After work I dutifully brought home the leftovers to share with The Little Red-Haired Girl. I mentioned how I’d miss Pho Pasteur when we move, even though it’s not one of those places we’d list as our favorite restaurants here. I guess we just take it for granted. Anyway, she reminded me that Nashville actually has a large Vietnamese population, and there must be some Vietnamese restaurants around.

Lo and behold, I’m checking The Scene online today, and find an article about banh mi, a Vietnamese sandwich. I was not so much interested in the sandwich as the fact that there is a whole section of Vietnamese restaurants which sounds super cheap all along Charlotte Pike. I guess they call it “Little Vietnam”. I will be sure to hit that up soon after we arrive.

movies in the park

posted by friedApplePie in tv-n-stuff; and nashville; and boston @ 3:02 pm

So, looks like Nashville’s got free movies in the park in the summer, just like Boston does. They play Wednesday nights, June 6-July 13, at the Centennial Park Band Shell. In Boston they are on Friday nights at sunset, from June 19-September 2 at the Hatch Shell. Not that we ever go in Boston, and we probably won’t go in Nashville, but it’s nice to have the option, right?
