good jokes are hard to come by

Unaccustomed to the erratic temperature changes that seem to occure here in Nashville, The Little Red Haired Girl and I are doing our best to appreciate the occasional warm days that we get. Sometimes our best is not enough - it was close to 70 degrees on January 2 this year, and we spent the morning watching movies in the house. Luckily Everything Guy dropped by to say hi on his way to the music store, and that gave us the kick in the pants (or shamed us enough) to get out of the house. We decided to check out J. Percy Priest lake, since we haven’t been yet. The website gave us about a million options though, and it was hard to figure out where to go. We were hoping to do a little walking around and to have a picnic (consisting of leftovers from the party and fast food extravaganza). Anyway we ended up at Long Hunter State Park, where we walked around some, then reclined on these rocks on the lake playing the “what shape is that cloud” game. Barf, I know. But a nice afternoon. I took the photo not expecting it to turn out, but it actually ended up being quite nice, I think.

The Little Red Haired girl and I have not had any fast food since moving here to Nashville. Well, I think we had french fries once on a hungover afternoon, but that doesn’t really count. I don’t have anything against fast food necessarily, but The Little Red Haired Girl doesn’t particularly like it, and I don’t even know what most of the places down here are so there hasn’t been occasion to go.
Well, Lady Ebony and Peaches know all the fast food places between the two of them, since they’ve both moved around in their lives. They have favorites and have things they’ve always wanted to try, so we had to hit some places that do not have restaurants in Boston, like Church’s, White Castle, Jack in the Box, and Sonic. Well, we did them all on January 1, 2006. We also watched some bad movies to go along with the bad food. It was a nice chill way to spend our last day together, for sure. Needless to say I am still eating leftover sliders and fried chicken.
