So it’s a good thing I decided to participate in life again today, since at around 3pm this afternoon one of our closet shelves collapsed. The one on which our coats and nice clothing were hanging. Argh. This is the third time a closet shelf in this house has collapsed since we moved in 10 months ago. I can’t wait to move.

So today I am officially rejoining the land of the living. I was going to make this past Saturday day my official day, but on Sunday I felt the beginnings of some nasty reaction that I seem to get to extreme heat and humidity occasionally. It generally happens at the beginning of the summer. I used to happen a lot when I traveled to Taiwan. Anyway, it’s this weird swelling and general irritation around my face and ears – very uncomfortable. Monday it was full on, so I doped up on Benadryl and hoped it would go away fast. Today it is getting better though still uncomfortable, but I am trying to suck it up.
So for the past month I’ve been pretty much keeping to myself and being selfish with my alone time. Most days I would get up early to pack lunch for The Little Red Haired Girl, but then spend the day either at my computer or on the couch reading, playing games, learning php, or just other general messing around. It was a very nice time for me.
Now that the summer is about halfway through, it is time for me to get my ass back in gear. We close on the house in a week and a half, then we will paint a little, pack a lot, and move by the end of July. We will spend much of August settling in and looking for a puppy. So now is the time for me to get started on all the things that I wanted to do this summer, so I don’t feel totally useless once school starts again. Of course that means I will be making lists for the next couple of days rather than actually starting to be productive. I gotta start somewhere, I suppose.
