My time in East TN (near Knoxville) pretty much echoed your thoughts. Being an articulate atheist in the Bible Belt was a bit too much. I think I'll hang out here in Cambridge a bit longer...

Hi from HGSE, and be safe :)

Yep, I had a pretty miserable experience at the polls as well. Only I'm EAST TN! ;) I'm gutting it out for one more year around here.

Thanks for the reminder, Jag. And if you ever decide on that commune, give me a buzz.

Shane - wish I could be there with you in Cambridge. Public transportation and marriage. What more could you ask for?

The voting majority doesn't necessarily represent the majority of your peers. Please remember that. I guess all we can do it continue to support diversity any way we can - it's a challenge, and it will take time. I keep thinking about what I read on one blog yesterday (and damnit if I can't remember whose it was) where an older lady was convinced that the marriage amendment was worded badly so 'they' would make her vote against the ban.

There are HUGE generational gaps in play over this.

Tennessee can still be home. We just all need to work a little harder to make it home for everyone.

If not, we'll go start a commune.

I had my own rant about the subject earlier today.

The games they play tire me out so much.

I wish I knew what to say: I live in a state where 80% of voting adults, through hatred, ignorance, spitefulness, or self-righteousness believe it is their right to make decisions about my relationship. This place will never be my...

Sad. Very sad. I'm sure you two still manage to make the place feel very homely.
