The Little Red Haired Girl is back from Italy.
I did ok while she was gone, for the most part. Some things:

• I successfully went out 3 nights in a row and did not overdo it
• I tried to be helpful and do some laundry, but apparently I am not domestic enough to open the detergent box without breaking it
• Frozen dinners don’t tend to have a lot of vegetables in them
• The dog enjoys long walks, but in the end really misses socializing with other dogs
• Although I really wanted The Little Red Haired Girl to be able to come home to a really clean house, my proclivities for laziness overcame any niceness urges and in the end I only mostly-cleaned
• Movies are a really nice way to spend a few hours. Why don’t I do that more often?

Life can almost get back to normal now, although with the holiday coming up, then the end of the semester, then the next couple holidays, it’ll be another couple weeks before we really get settled down. Or maybe all this traveling and busy-ness is the norm now and we should just get used to it. I hope not.

The Little Red Haired Girl is away on business in Italy. Yippee for her, lonely for me. So far I am keeping busy. I have a school assignment to do, and lots of tivo and movies to watch. Some things:

• I managed to make myself fried rice for dinner, so did not yet have to resort to the frozen dinners that we bought in case I got too lazy to cook
• There is only one comb in the house. Well, it was in the house. Now it’s on its way to Italy. How will I do my hair?
• The dog is confused. I’m not nearly as fun as The Little Red Haired Girl, and I’m afraid that he blames me for getting fed an hour later than usual. How do you explain daylight savings to a dog?

Over at Steamy Kitchen Jaden is having a vanilla bean giveaway. You just have to contribute a recipe involving vanilla to enter! I couldn’t think of any recipes of my own that I really liked, but then I remembered the bread pudding I had a distant cousin’s wedding a couple of weekends ago. I’ve been inspired to make some ever since, and Elise at Simply Recipes has a recipe that I’ve been meaning to try. So that’s what I submitted.
