punished for voting

posted by friedApplePie in nashville @ 11:09 am

I’ve always hated the bs recorded phone messages from candidates around voting season. I consider it punishment for trying to be a responsible citizen and participating in democracy. I guess candidates can buy my information from the election commission - name, phone number, address, last four digits of social security. Probably political affiliation too, right?

Well, candidates are not the only ones with that info now. Seems the Davidson County Election Commission offices were broken into sometime while everyone was away on holiday, and a laptop with all voters’ information was taken. The theft wasn’t discovered until the day after Christmas.

Seriously. wtf? I guess I don’t have to be nervous since that’s all information that could be bought anyhow. But it sure doesn’t help put any confidence in the system, ya know?
