the world is your acorn

the world is your acorn

About me

Aren’t you supposed to find that out by reading the blog?

Ok, here are some things to go on:
I’m a Chinese-American married (to a Jew) lesbian new mom New Englander who moved to Nashville to be a graduate student. Are those enough labels to start with?

I use this blog to share my experiences here in Nashville, my quest to eat and cook delicious food, my wistful interest in new technologies, and other sundry items.

The title of the blog is a reference to my hybrid upbringing in upper middle class private school world by immigrant parents. Growing up I missed out on a lot of social and cultural parts of American life, one result of which is that I sometimes misuse idioms. At the same time, the world really has been my “acorn,” in the sense that my parents provided me with all kinds of opportunities. The other reason for the blog name is to help remind myself of those opportunities.
