this video made us laugh so hard
I recently lost my cool with a friend in a public space and will probably cringe about it for the rest of my life. But at least I wasn’t on camera.

I guess this was almost a month ago, but that’s how behind I am. I don’t know about the last couple years, but when I used to watch Ellen Degeneres’s talk show she was always pretty avoidy when it came to gay issues. Apparently, at least on this day, she took it head on. Good one, Ellen!

This made me smile out loud this morning, so I figured I’d better share it. I oscillate from loving Rachel Ray to finding her perkiness infuriating, but on average I’m a fan. This video is basically just 90 seconds of Rachel Ray enjoying whatever it is she’s tasting. Funny.

I just saw this ad [Windows Media Player required, boo] on tv. It made me laugh.
This morning The Little Red Haired Girl had to work, so I took the opportunity to do some of my chores, read for school, and make mac and cheese for lunch. That leaves me responsibility-free* for the rest of the day, so we are now camped out on the couch watching womens hoops/football, drinking beer, and eating carrots and dip. Well I’m doing those things, and The Little Red Haired Girl is waiting for a nap to happen to her.
There’s something really luxurious to me about the sounds of sports coming from the tv. I don’t have a regular sports-watching schedule or season or anything like that. Usually life is too filled with errands and schoolwork and housework and socializing to sit for the many hours it requires to properly get into tv-watching of sports. So hearing that background crowd noise and the drone of the announcers recalls for me some kind of balance, or peace, or leisure. Like a “I handled my shit and now I get to chill” kind of a satisfied feeling.
* Of course that really just means everything else I have to do can be put off until later.
Has anyone else seen these things? Dove’s been working pretty hard with their advertising these days, and doing a pretty good job too, I think. These little “webisodes” for the Dove Calming Night line are no exception. They consist of Brady Bunch, Munsters, and Leave it to Beaver clips with Felicity Huffman (of TransAmerica and Desperate Housewives fame) sandwiched in. Pretty entertaining. But then again, I’m a big Felicity Huffman fan (as evidenced by the fact that I actually know who she is).
